Term 1 Review!

Hey guys! I thought I'd deliver another post today so grab your popcorn (If you want) and read ahead if you dare (dun dun DUUUN!)...

Today's topic is...

Year 6 (Term 1)

Year 6 is soo fun it's hard to choose the Top 5 but here it is...(order doesn't mean anything)

5. Flipped Classroom (General). It's where one or two child(ren) plan a lesson and take over the classroom for 45 minutes. I think I've seen some really educational (and very funny) lessons. The best things about them is that they are also children so the lessons become much better as they know what children like. It is the most fun when teaching because you have the whole classroom will follow you and you experience extreme independence.

4. Volcanoes (Geography). In geography we studied volcanoes and had to make our own model of a volcano! It was really fun because this project was independent and we had to do all of the building, measuring and cutting (with a few cuts!) all by ourselves. We were put into groups and the number of people in a group is dependent on the size of the volcano we were given. At the end of the term we exploded them! We were going to do Coke and mentos but we ended up with baking soda and vinegar. (It was still epic)

3. Photography Day (Art). On that day we looked at photos and what message they convey. Then we looked at 'self portraits (Photography wise)'. No not 'selfies'(which I ended up taking (oops!)). We then decided how the photographer was trying to show themselves in their picture. We were then given the task to take our own which we would later edit. It was really fun as we could go anywhere on campus! Mine will be below. It shows how I am nosey and want to everything about everyone.

2. Friday Boogie (General). On Fridays we have a fifteen minute break in between the end of P.E and the start of library. In this break we rush back to the classroom, get our bags packed and BOOGIE. Our boogie would consist of going onto YouTube and putting on videos of Just Dance and project it on the whiteboard. We would then play it for however long we had. (Usually 5 minutes or so)

1. Mt. Takao (Geography). In previous Y6 years it wouldn't be volcanoes that we study but it would be mountains. They changed the topic but kept the hike up Mt. Takao as it is so great. In groups of 4-6 we had to plan how to get up and down a mountain independently and (for safety) had to register checkpoints. It was really fun as we had to work as a team and conquer a mountain. I know it's only 599m tall but it's an achievement for me and my independence.

Well I hope you enjoyed my post today. I sincerely do apologize for not posting that frequently but please try and bear with me!

Well that's it for me, see you later,

Incredible invention

(WARNING! GEEK LEVEL: 7/10!)

Hey readers! I sincerely apologize for my inactivity as I haven't had time to write but here it is! Another post and it is about the greatest invention (to me) yet. Something that revolutionized the technology industry. Make your bets! You probably guessed it...

iPhone

The iPhone is Apple inc's Smartphone and is updated every year. The iPhone will release in a whole number and then the next year will come out in an 'S' model then will repeat the process (e.g. iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 etc.). The latest edition is the iPhone 6S (This was written in 2015 Dec) and features a better camera, 3D touch and a faster Touch ID. The iPhone was also one of the first touchscreen smartphone (no stylus or keypad needed).

I think this is a great invention as it's most popular phone and back in 2007 was one of the most powerful smartphones ever. Apple has made a very powerful phone that has about 94% of the smartphone market with them. I have personally experienced using an iPhone and a Samsung (both in stores. Not my personal because I haven't had a personal Samsung) and I was shocked how amazing the iPhone was. Samsung is a good choice but my iPhone experience was better. My verdict is that the iPhone is the best invention EVER!

If you have a different thought then leave your best invention in the comments below.

Well that's it for me, See you later,

The Comedy of Star Wars

Hello dear reader! Have you ever wanted to combine a classic play with Star Wars? Now you can! This is my assembly, a mixture between The Comedy of Errors and Star Wars!

In the assembly, Darth Vader and Luke 1/2 and C3PO 1/2 and Padme are separated. The family's ship is attacked and they have to go to the escape pods. Sadly, the family had to be separated. Then Lord Vader and his son and servant go and find the rest of the family. After a lot of obstacles in their way, they finally find their family.

I personally think this was a very creative idea as I myself could not have thought of anything better. This theme was voted by the class and I really liked this idea. I think everyone did a really good job learning their lines, especially since they were in Shakespearean English! One of my favorite times was when we danced to the song 'I'm Han Solo'! That was fun. I also thought this assembly went really well so congratulations Year 6R! Some Great lines include 'SHUT THY CAKEHOLES'

Book of November (Also See on Epic Story Time with Me)

02/11/15

Hey dear reader! I am going to do a quick blurb style synopsis for 'A little piece of ground'

The Tragic Times

Karim Aboudi is a Palestinian living under the Israelis' harsh conditions. His passion for football is something you can never take away from him. It's also the thing which helped him find Hopper, his close friend and the one who introduced A small field called Hopper's Ground. His other best friend Joni goes to a different school to Hopper and Karim but the three of them have a strong bond that can never be broken.

Well that is it for me, see you later,

Eyes of Stone

02/10/15

Welcome to another story, this one is inspired from an animation!

Eyes of Stone

I sit here, wondering what it would be like to be normal, especially to have normal eyes instead of 2 little marbles that turn everything it sees into stone...

A few hours of wondering later I spotted an eagle. I tried closing my eyes but they wouldn't. I was fascinated, even mesmerised by the beauty of this wonderful creature. Then suddenly it fell to the ground. I stooped to pick it up but it just crumbled to the ground.

I decided I wanted to see more. I went to the jungle and all life turned to stone even my favourite, the dinosaur. I felt sad that everything I wanted to interact with was currently crumbling but I was fine. My mum died when she first looked at me and my dad died when he got furious and accidentally looked me eye to eye, the most painful form of death just disappearing from existence.

I got more greedy and striked a city. I was so greedy I tore buildings and cars just to see the tiny humans I had so much fun for hours and hours until I realised that I was wasting life. The human race was ending in front of my eyes because of them. I decided I had to do it. I had to kill myself.

A few walks with my eyes closed later I felt water. The dive into the cold water was enough to freeze me and I drowned. It was over...

What does this animation tell you?

Another brilliant error (Also see on Year 6 Thoughts)

30/09/15

On Monday the 21st of September we were lucky enough to have the Pembrokes Perform The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare. I will be reflecting on the performance

The workshop before the actual play was super fun. we did exercises to warm up our voices and body. Next we worked on freeze frames and we did a fun scenario where someone was mistaken for their dog! Overall it was a brilliant performance and I know we are very lucky to have this opportunity. I liked it as it was a very funny play and they had such perfection that in the Q&A in the end they said they made mistakes but it did not look like that. The whole play kept me entertained and there wasn't a second where my attention left the actors.

My Week (Also see on 'My Special Page')

30/09/15

Hello, it's me here.

This week so far has been so amazing that I just had to write about it.

On Monday we had a chance to make a videos about safety, I did a big issue which is cyber-bullying. Please don't cyber-bully. We started filming but couldn't finish. I will put the video on the blog once it is done.

On Tuesday we studied how light helps us see and how there are two different types of light, luminescent and non-luminescent.

Today, Wednesday, was my favourite lesson, ICT also known as Computing. We are working on a game in scratch. My game isn't that good but I am proud of it.

Well, I'll see you next time!

(Also see on story time) A musical tragedy

25/09/15

Hey! Check out this story written from music.

The Sad Story of Sadness

Today me and my Super Duper Mega Good Best Friend Forever, Bob, were having a meeting. We both found a new land between our nations and were deciding which country would get the land. It was quite miniature, about 500 acres.

Bob was 3 minutes 38.635 seconds late but I excused him. 'The land is ours' he demanded. He was never like this with me.
'YOU DO NOT TALK TO A SUPER DUPER MEGA GOOD BEST FRIEND FOREVER LIKE THAT' I scolded.
'CURSE YOU AND YOUR STUPID SUPER DUPER MEGA GOOD BEST FRIEND FOREVER NONSENSE' he shouted even louder.
' IT WAS YOUR IDEA FOR THAT NAME' I screamt at the top of all I had.
'I spit on your name and your stupid talk, LAND EQUAL MINE' He was pushing me.
'One way to do this now, Linda, tell the general to prepare the troops, we are going to war with IMBONIA.

The next thing I knew hundreds of Andrinian and Imbonian people were getting murdered I was personally battling Bob. Our swords had fluid motions and were perfectly in time as if it was planned. I managed to chop on of his arms off before it happened.

We were battling and he stabbed me. Right in the heart.

Book Review (Also can be seen on the Book Reviews page)

The Selection Review
Source: goodreads http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10507293-the-selection
In IllĂ©a (what used to be U.S.A), when their prince is going to come of age, a selection happens to help the prince find a wife. The Selection is when 35 girls (one from every province (state)) stays at the palace and has a chance to win the prince's heart. Only the prince can decide who stays and who is to be eliminated. Their country also has castes which go from 1 to 8 (1=Best (Royal family) 8=worst (Homeless)). These castes determine your career and your education status. This book is based on the main character America Singer so lets begin with her. Her caste is a 5. She could either be a musician or an artist but chose music as her career. She is 16 (eligible for the selection), and is pressurised by her family to enter the selection. If she does then she may not be able to marry her love, Aspen. Aspen tells America to enter the selection and she does. The next thing she new she was on a plane to the palace. She made a friend, Marlee and made an enemy, Celeste. On the first night she can't take it anymore and decides to walk in the gardens she is stopped by guards but the Prince, Maxon, lets her go out. She tells him she just wants to be friends but will she be able to resist Prince Maxon?

I like this book as it has a very interesting plot and hooked me. My favourite part is when Maxon and America have their dates in the garden as I like to see their relationship growing.

A story for you (You can also see on 'My Special Page')

16/09/15

Her voice fluently sang her story as her eyes watered. She gently plucked the strings of her guitar focused on her memories. As tears rolled down her pale cheeks she sang harder. The crowd fell silent and she melted like butter but still determined to complete her tune. as her fingers travelled up and down the body of the guitar she sang harder and harder till the point tears flowed down her cheeks. She put more and more effort with every note until the sound was drowned by the eruption of cheers. She brought her piece to an end and gave a big bow. The louder the crowd got the harder she cried.

What does the music below make you think of? (Don't see the video and use your imagination.)

5 sentence story

A short form of....

The comedy of errors

A law said Syracusians could not enter Ephesus yet Aegon of Syracuse entered ,in search of his wife, and got arrested. Antipholus of Syracuse entered Ephesus and his twin's wife dragged him home for dinner as he looked like his twin from Ephesus. When the real Antipholus of Ephesus came home he wouldn't be allowed to enter while a gold chain for Antipholus of Ephesus was delivered to the twin from Syracuse. The twin from Ephesus was arrested for not paying for the chain that was given to the Syracuse twin while the twin from Ephesus tried to flee but was not let out. Antipholus of Ephesus broke free and demanded charges against his wife Adriana but luckily Amelia showed up who explained everything to the duke and the family was reunited thanks to Amelia.
