Best Book!

Hello to my fellow readers! I am going to talk about the book of January! This will be about my favourite read of the month (obviously)...

When we were two!

Set in 1916, the book is about the journey of Dan and his brother, Eddie. They leave their hometown of Gunnedah to Port Macquarie. Along the way they find a variety of people to get a ride from varying from evil to Chinese to an army! This book does take an emotional turn but I really do think it's a brilliant story.

Dan and Eddie have similarities like they both want freedom but there are quite a few differences between them and by few I mean quite a few! First of all Dan is really good at lying whereas Eddie is kind of someone who questions Dan when he's lying to get them a ride.

This is a really good choice to write a book on as the concept of two teenage boys running away from home and trying to start a new life seems unique. This is one of the book's that make you feel about 8-10 emotions in every chapter. I think this book is one of the best books.

The most interesting part of the book to me is every time they manage to get a ride with someone as I didn't know in 1916 you could just trust anyone and just go with them in a cart and they would actually tell the truth of where they were going.

The ending was not what I expected as I thought he would be happy to do what he came there actually for but he didn't do it at all. I think in that way the ending could have been better like he has just started what he came to do and boom! Cliffhanger.

I think this book is similar to (believe it or not) Geronimo Stilton and the kingdom of fantasy. In that book there is a long journey (obviously shorter than this because it's a children's book) and there are some characters that you like, that die! The books do have similarities but also have big differences.

In conclusion, this is (like for the quadrillionth time) one of the best books I have EVER read.

Term 1 Review!

Hey guys! I thought I'd deliver another post today so grab your popcorn (If you want) and read ahead if you dare (dun dun DUUUN!)...

Today's topic is...

Year 6 (Term 1)

Year 6 is soo fun it's hard to choose the Top 5 but here it is...(order doesn't mean anything)

5. Flipped Classroom (General). It's where one or two child(ren) plan a lesson and take over the classroom for 45 minutes. I think I've seen some really educational (and very funny) lessons. The best things about them is that they are also children so the lessons become much better as they know what children like. It is the most fun when teaching because you have the whole classroom will follow you and you experience extreme independence.

4. Volcanoes (Geography). In geography we studied volcanoes and had to make our own model of a volcano! It was really fun because this project was independent and we had to do all of the building, measuring and cutting (with a few cuts!) all by ourselves. We were put into groups and the number of people in a group is dependent on the size of the volcano we were given. At the end of the term we exploded them! We were going to do Coke and mentos but we ended up with baking soda and vinegar. (It was still epic)

3. Photography Day (Art). On that day we looked at photos and what message they convey. Then we looked at 'self portraits (Photography wise)'. No not 'selfies'(which I ended up taking (oops!)). We then decided how the photographer was trying to show themselves in their picture. We were then given the task to take our own which we would later edit. It was really fun as we could go anywhere on campus! Mine will be below. It shows how I am nosey and want to everything about everyone.

2. Friday Boogie (General). On Fridays we have a fifteen minute break in between the end of P.E and the start of library. In this break we rush back to the classroom, get our bags packed and BOOGIE. Our boogie would consist of going onto YouTube and putting on videos of Just Dance and project it on the whiteboard. We would then play it for however long we had. (Usually 5 minutes or so)

1. Mt. Takao (Geography). In previous Y6 years it wouldn't be volcanoes that we study but it would be mountains. They changed the topic but kept the hike up Mt. Takao as it is so great. In groups of 4-6 we had to plan how to get up and down a mountain independently and (for safety) had to register checkpoints. It was really fun as we had to work as a team and conquer a mountain. I know it's only 599m tall but it's an achievement for me and my independence.

Well I hope you enjoyed my post today. I sincerely do apologize for not posting that frequently but please try and bear with me!

Well that's it for me, see you later,

Incredible invention

(WARNING! GEEK LEVEL: 7/10!)

Hey readers! I sincerely apologize for my inactivity as I haven't had time to write but here it is! Another post and it is about the greatest invention (to me) yet. Something that revolutionized the technology industry. Make your bets! You probably guessed it...

iPhone

The iPhone is Apple inc's Smartphone and is updated every year. The iPhone will release in a whole number and then the next year will come out in an 'S' model then will repeat the process (e.g. iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, iPhone 7 etc.). The latest edition is the iPhone 6S (This was written in 2015 Dec) and features a better camera, 3D touch and a faster Touch ID. The iPhone was also one of the first touchscreen smartphone (no stylus or keypad needed).

I think this is a great invention as it's most popular phone and back in 2007 was one of the most powerful smartphones ever. Apple has made a very powerful phone that has about 94% of the smartphone market with them. I have personally experienced using an iPhone and a Samsung (both in stores. Not my personal because I haven't had a personal Samsung) and I was shocked how amazing the iPhone was. Samsung is a good choice but my iPhone experience was better. My verdict is that the iPhone is the best invention EVER!

If you have a different thought then leave your best invention in the comments below.

The Comedy of Star Wars

Hello dear reader! Have you ever wanted to combine a classic play with Star Wars? Now you can! This is my assembly, a mixture between The Comedy of Errors and Star Wars!

In the assembly, Darth Vader and Luke 1/2 and C3PO 1/2 and Padme are separated. The family's ship is attacked and they have to go to the escape pods. Sadly, the family had to be separated. Then Lord Vader and his son and servant go and find the rest of the family. After a lot of obstacles in their way, they finally find their family.

I personally think this was a very creative idea as I myself could not have thought of anything better. This theme was voted by the class and I really liked this idea. I think everyone did a really good job learning their lines, especially since they were in Shakespearean English! One of my favorite times was when we danced to the song 'I'm Han Solo'! That was fun. I also thought this assembly went really well so congratulations Year 6R! Some Great lines include 'SHUT THY CAKEHOLES'

Book of November (Also See on Epic Story Time with Me)

02/11/15

Hey dear reader! I am going to do a quick blurb style synopsis for 'A little piece of ground'

The Tragic Times

Karim Aboudi is a Palestinian living under the Israelis' harsh conditions. His passion for football is something you can never take away from him. It's also the thing which helped him find Hopper, his close friend and the one who introduced A small field called Hopper's Ground. His other best friend Joni goes to a different school to Hopper and Karim but the three of them have a strong bond that can never be broken.

Eyes of Stone

02/10/15

Welcome to another story, this one is inspired from an animation!

Eyes of Stone

I sit here, wondering what it would be like to be normal, especially to have normal eyes instead of 2 little marbles that turn everything it sees into stone...

A few hours of wondering later I spotted an eagle. I tried closing my eyes but they wouldn't. I was fascinated, even mesmerised by the beauty of this wonderful creature. Then suddenly it fell to the ground. I stooped to pick it up but it just crumbled to the ground.

I decided I wanted to see more. I went to the jungle and all life turned to stone even my favourite, the dinosaur. I felt sad that everything I wanted to interact with was currently crumbling but I was fine. My mum died when she first looked at me and my dad died when he got furious and accidentally looked me eye to eye, the most painful form of death just disappearing from existence.

I got more greedy and striked a city. I was so greedy I tore buildings and cars just to see the tiny humans I had so much fun for hours and hours until I realised that I was wasting life. The human race was ending in front of my eyes because of them. I decided I had to do it. I had to kill myself.

A few walks with my eyes closed later I felt water. The dive into the cold water was enough to freeze me and I drowned. It was over...

What does this animation tell you?
